Discover Martine's Riverhouse Restaurant

Walking into Martine's Riverhouse Restaurant feels like stepping into a well-loved New Hope tradition where the river does half the talking. Tucked along the Delaware at 14 E Ferry St, New Hope, PA 18938, United States, this spot has been my go-to whenever friends visit town and want something that feels special without being stuffy. I still remember bringing my parents here on a cool autumn evening; we snagged a window table, watched the water drift by, and instantly slowed down in the best way.

The location alone does a lot of the heavy lifting. Sitting right on the river, the dining room and outdoor patio offer views that turn an ordinary dinner into an experience. According to the National Restaurant Association, diners consistently rank ambiance among the top factors influencing repeat visits, and it’s easy to see why this place keeps people coming back. Whether it’s brunch with sunlight bouncing off the water or dinner as boats glide past, the setting becomes part of the meal.

The menu leans into classic American cooking with a refined touch. Over the years, I’ve worked my way through everything from fresh seafood to hearty steaks, and the consistency stands out. One standout moment was watching a server describe how their sauces are built slowly, starting with reduced stocks rather than shortcuts. That attention to process shows up on the plate. Dishes arrive balanced, not overworked, and you can taste that care. A longtime favorite of mine is what regulars often describe as elegant comfort food, the kind that satisfies without trying too hard.

Reviews around town often mention the staff, and I can vouch for that. On one visit, a server noticed my hesitation over the wine list and walked me through a pairing based on what I’d ordered, not what was trendy. That kind of service reflects training and experience rather than scripts. Hospitality research from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration highlights how knowledgeable staff directly impact guest satisfaction, and this place seems to take that to heart.

There’s also something to be said for how Martine’s Riverhouse Restaurant fits into the New Hope dining scene. The town has no shortage of eateries, yet this one manages to feel both established and current. Seasonal changes show up on the menu, and while some dishes remain staples, others rotate based on availability. That flexibility mirrors best practices recommended by culinary institutes, which encourage restaurants to adapt menus to seasonal sourcing for both quality and sustainability.

Not every visit is flawless, and it’s fair to mention that. On peak weekends, wait times can stretch longer than expected, especially for prime riverfront tables. Parking nearby can also be tricky, which is more a town issue than a restaurant one. Still, staff usually handle the rush with patience, and the overall experience rarely feels rushed once you’re seated.

What keeps me recommending this restaurant isn’t just the food or the view, but how naturally everything works together. The menu, the location, the service, and the steady stream of positive reviews all point to a place that understands its role: offering a relaxed yet polished dining experience that feels genuinely welcoming. When friends ask where to eat in New Hope, I don’t hesitate, because I know they’ll leave with the same feeling I do every time-like they’ve found a spot worth returning to.

  • Martine’s is a New Hope staple. While dinner service doesn’t start until 5pm, you can grab a drink and snacks at the bar while you wait. Highly recommend making a reservation because the restaurant isn’t super big and is a popular place (also gets quite loud). The menu isn’t huge but all the selections are great. For starters, we got the pumpkin chorizo soup which was perfect for fall and had a nice little kick from the chorizo. For mains, we got the Thai curry mussels (large portion and great flavor), fried green tomatoes (3 topped with shrimp and bacon, so a sizable portion), wild boar ribs (covered in onions and peppers), and the steak frites (large portion of steak and perfectly fried fries). We ended the meal with the mousse- large scoop with whipped cream. The mousse was a pretty thick consistency, just a comment for those who are looking for something that is lighter and fluffier. It was a solid meal, nothing special but a nice dinner with friends.

  • A remarkable restaurant serving American cuisine with a side of friendly service. The picturesque views along the river are wonderful and there is both inside and outside dining. The deviled eggs and crab sandwich were amazing. Helpful Hint: Great place to have a meal before or after a performance at the Buck County Playhouse. We had a delightful lunch and then enjoyed a short walk to the theater.

  • This is a nice river view restaurant with good food! We had an amazing lunch here. We ordered the cozy autumn soup, crab cake sandwich, lobster roll, and burger. The soup was surprisingly good, and the crab cake sandwich was the best I’ve ever had. The lobster roll was just okay, but everything else made up for it. It was a great experience overall, but one thing to note is that they don’t have cups for kids. They serve water in glass jars, which isn’t ideal for little ones. Still, we enjoyed our visit and would recommend it for the food and the lovely view.

  • You can’t beat dining outside along the river on an absolutely beautiful fall evening. We both enjoyed the wild boar ribs, did not taste gamey at all. The cod and steak were good. Prices are reasonable. An oasis amidst the craziness in town!

  • Our first time here and it was very good. We sat outside on the deck with a view of the river and New Jersey acrossed it. The service was very good, friendly, and our food and drinks came in a timely manner. Prices are on.point, the food was delicious. The fried green tomatoes with shrimp and thick cut bacon, was awesome! The fries were not bad, a bit too crunchy, but the garlic aeoli was outstanding. If you've ever in New Hooe, give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.

  • Martine’s RiverHouse is a gem — riverside dining at its finest. We snagged a table out on the deck overlooking the Delaware River and from the moment we sat down it was pure charm. The view alone might win you over, but the food and service truly seal the deal. The menu is broad and thoughtfully done — we started with the crab cocktail and a couple of fresh salads, then shared a crab-cake sandwich and a burger. The sandwich was absolutely the best crab cake I’ve ever had: crispy outside, tender inside, and loaded with flavor. For mains, the steak and chicken dishes we tried were generous and satisfying. Portions are hearty, and you get real value for what you pay. The vibe hits a perfect balance — relaxed enough for a laid-back lunch, but classy enough for a date night or a special evening. Service was friendly and attentive, and we felt welcome from start to finish. If you’re heading to New Hope and want a great meal with river views — especially around sunset — Martine’s RiverHouse should be top of your list. I’d happily come back again (and will).

  • Came for a midweek dinner. It was nice because it was quiet and we were able to enjoy a nice meal out on the water with a pretty view. Food is reasonably priced and servings size are plenty. We ordered chicken and steak entree but the Mac and cheese app was probably our favorite.
